DIRECTING
Out of the many disciplines that i seek to conquer, directing is my most recent foray. for years i entrusted my written work to other directors. now, I embrace directing my own work as its ultimate guardian.
As a director, i am a guardian of the script, a conductor of actors, and a disciple of a hundred years of film.
My inspirations include film directors like Ernst Lubitsch & Robert Altman, visual artists like Edward Hopper & John Singer Sargent, and playwrights like Jean Paul Sartre & Neil Simon.
Now that I’ve blown my horn louder than Gabriel, take a peek below at some of my work!
the slate (2024)
A struggling actress attempts to film a self-tape.
I filmed this short as realistically as possible, to achieve a cinema verité aspect of the New Wave filmmakers of a bygone era. There is simple beauty and unpleasant voyeurism to the film which is experimental and electric.
pay deferred (2025)
Three female extras fight to get a speaking part on the set of a horror movie.
with this short, i wanted to explore the hierarchies that exist on set, and the masks that people put on in order to get ahead. to capture the excitement and ever changing, ever moving industry, i filmed nearly the entire thing on dollies, and used a large lens that was typical of new hollywood directors such as scorsese- only instead of exposing an underbelly of crime such as mean streets, i was exposing an underbelly of ugly, blind ambition.
